In response to this BBC News story, ‘No cuts’ for Mediterranean tuna, I felt compelled to at least write to ICCAT to complain.
Just in case it spurs even one more person to complain, here is the letter. I do not apologise for the lumpy writing, it was meant from the heart and that’s what matters.
I wish to register my strongest possible complaint at the decision reported here by the BBC:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7101745.stmI am afraid that wrong or right, I have judged this issue based on what I have read
on the WWF, Greenpeace and BBC websites and although there is no doubt an argument
behind your position on this matter, and no doubt data to support it, in my position as
just an individual, unable to spare the time to judge this material, I accept the combined
view of the bodies noted and so take the somewhat presumptuous step of pre-rejecting
any argument you might raise in support of your decision.I am sure the person(s) responsible for this decision sleep well at night; they shouldn’t,
they should be kept awake by guilt and shame.Another blow for humanity.
Sincerely saddened, -Alan Bristow.
So sorry.
I heard about your mother today and, know you personally or not, I still want to express my sorrow to you at this time.
